TORS Override

The TORS system on Yamaha Blasters and Banshees prevent the throttle from sticking open. Over time though they become a problem. There are two ways override the system. You can splice the wires in the thumb throttle assembly and cut the wires that go into the cap of the carb. With this method you retain the stock carb cap. The other way is to buy a kit that contains a new carb cap, throttle cable, and idle adjustment screw. These kits are available from Dennis Kirk, Vito's, and Synder Motorsports. You still have to splice the wires at the thumb throttle assembly.

First splice the wires at the thumb throttle

That wire sticking off to the right is the wire that you cut or disconnect. The big fat knurled screw with a slot for a flathead screwdriver, is the idle adjustment screw.

Adding the new carb cap and throttle cable is simple. Since you are replacing the carb cap you have to add a idle adjustment screw. To do this you have to file the angled boss on the left side off the carb flat, then drill a hole, and tap it.The kit you buy should come with the correct drill and tap. The screw with the locking nut in between the fuel inlet and hose is the new idle adjustment screw. Just turn it in too raise idle and out to lower idle.
