Jetting Guidelines

By Jeremy at BlasterRiders

Here are some basic guidelines for jetting your blaster
Always start with a new plug
stock jet is a 230 or 240, depending on the climate where your blaster was purchased
air filter and air box lid removal requires a 1 jet size increase
pipe and silencer can require from a 260-310 main depending on pipe manufacturer
aftermarket reeds usually require a 1 jet increase
there is no way anyone can tell you what main jet to use 100% accuratetly, buy some jets and tune away, start small and work your way up, using a new plug if it becomes black
"perfect" plug color, the porcelin around the electrode should be a light tan-dark tan, cardboard is a good representation of perfect jetting
white/silver=lean
black=rich
to check your main jet, run quad to operating temp, install new spark plug and run through the gears wide open in 6th for approx 15-30 seconds...pull in the clutch and kill the engine, coast to a stop and check plug color. use the above guidelines to adjust your main jet as needed. some people like to have the main 100% dead on, i like to find 100% perfect and then go up 1 main size...just to keep my engine oiled a little better, yeah it smokes more and if you lug it, it will foul plugs, but it a little security i like to have.
